Postcard inspirationA great deal of thought went into not only the design but also the colour scheme of Jayne’s small kitchen. She found a postcard that was inspirational and used this for her new colour scheme. The cabinetry was painted by an automotive painter using gloss Resene Nero. One small wall is finished in Resene Pixie Dust. When the sun is on it, it really sparkles – she loves it! The main walls are Resene Sandcastle complemented by the ceiling, pantry cupboard and china cabinet in the discreet colour of Resene Alabaster. Brushed stainless steel trim on the central work bench adds a classy foil against the Resene Nero. All the tiling was done by Jayne’s husband. The ‘slump’ glass splashback was made in Invercargill with Jayne's own design incorporated into it. The original (1960) tongue and groove floor is limewashed in white. The benches are all kauri. The end result is a small but extremely workable kitchen which is a real joy to work in. The Resene Nero is stunning and everyone says ‘wow’ when they walk in.
