Patterns to please

Loraine started painting rooms and old furniture in her home as a stress reliever while she was juggling being a wife, a mother, work as a nurse and post graduate studies.

Her first project was her daughter's bedroom. She painted whenever she couldn't find the words for her essay. For this project Loraine went to the Manukau Resene ColorShop. She had a vision of what she wanted to do but zero experience in painting. Armed with her Resene tape, brushes, paint (Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen in Resene Deep Blush), lots of advice and tips from YouTube, plus a bit of patience and creativity, Loraine was able to create a chevron pattern for her daughter's bedroom. And yes, she even got an A+ for the paper that she was working on.

After doing her daughter's bedroom and enjoying the process and the result, Loraine turned her attention to other rooms. She painted a herringbone pattern for the guest bedroom using Resene Grey Chateau.

Her husband is into making figures as a hobby, so she thought of painting his hobby room with random patterns and colours inspired by them, using the colours Resene Double Trojan, Resene Bellbottom Blue and Resene Triple Rakaia.

The master bedroom is still a work in progress. Loraine used Resene Quarter Foundry to paint the wall behind the bed. Looking at it, you might say it is the simplest paint job that she's done in all four rooms, but then again, it's not finished yet! Loraine also plans to paint the furniture and add other things to the room too.
