The Williams’ family renovation started out as a complete clean slate with all plaster removed and the home gutted and relined to give a fresh start.
It was important to keep the heritage features of the house so the paint colours were complemented by crisp Resene Black White skirtings, picture rails and coving.
They wanted a soft palette that had a relaxed vintage feel so Hannah got to work with loads of different Resene testpots. They knew we wanted to do a two tone effect with the picture rails so ensured that colours chosen went well together.
Hannah has two favourite rooms - the master bedroom in whimsical Resene Soulmate with Resene Trojan on the upper half. Funnily her husband didn’t mind the ‘pink’ tone – it’s such a restful colour and perfect for a bedroom.
Her other favourite is the lounge in Resene Quarter Foundry - it looks really striking against the crisp white and with so much light coming in from the tall windows Hannah knew there wasn’t a chance of the room feeling closed in with a darker colour.
The remainder of the home is in shades of blues and greys with the hall in Resene Triple Concrete and Resene Trojan, the wet areas – bathroom, laundry and kitchen – in Resene Half Silver Chalice, a bedroom in Resene Half Duck Egg Blue and Resene New Denim Blue and a spare room in Resene Breathless and Resene Trojan.
They’re glad they took the leap and used colour throughout the house. It has added character to the house but still set a soft backdrop for artwork and furnishings to be added.
Thanks to the Williams family.
