Steve undertook a major extension and renovation of a 1920s bungalow, including construction of a garage.
He wanted to highlight the traditional bungalow features that had been painted out over the years. The ceiling beams in the original part of the house had all been painted white. As the ceiling beams in the extension were a different timber, stripping back to bare timber wasn't an option so Steve painted all the beams in Resene Lemon Grass. The plaster ceiling tiles complement this with Resene Alabaster.
As the house is quite small, Steve used a unified colour scheme for both the interior and exterior. The trim colours are identical, but the interior walls are Resene Quarter Sisal, with the exterior walls in Resene Half Sisal. The exposed tails and match lined soffits on the exterior are highlighted with Resene Rivergum and Resene Alabaster.
The COLORSTEEL® roof is Rivergum, as are the exterior doors and porch trim. Resene Rivergum was also used for the glass splashbacks.
Interior walls were removed to create an open plan living area. The required supporting beam is recreated and painted in the traditional bungalow design of the front porch.
Thanks to Steve.
