Creative with colour

Jessica decided on Resene Black White for the interior walls throughout her home and only added the Resene All Black stripes a year later to two walls. This spot with the TV on the wall was originally an office/study cupboard and once it was removed she was a little worried that the area looked like an afterthought. The stripes seemed to break up the boxy area. Also in the living room is Resene Stack and Resene Pearl Shimmer.

Jessica then added colour to the toybox (painted using masking tape), skateboards (they were a Kmart purchase that she sanded back and painted), geometric side table (a secondhand purchase that she repainted), the plywood picture on the wall and accessories with the left over Resene paint and testpots.

When it came to daughter Honor's room, Jessica purchased the princess bed which she had her eye on since she found out she was having a girl and used this as well as Disney Sofia the First as her colour inspiration. Since the room is tiny and Jessica wanted to play up the theme without adding any bulky items to the room she cut a castle shape out of MDF board and layered them on top of each other, then painted it with Resene paint and attached it to the wardrobe doors. Jessica added Honor's name to the bed with painted wooden letters, and painted a Mocka coat stand and poster frame to tie it all in. The room has Resene Bedazzle, Resene Ballerina, Resene Dancing Girl, Resene Unicorn and Resene Funtasia.

For son Brody's room Jessica wanted all out bright and added this with Resene colours on the coatstand, shadow boxes, MDF giraffes and drawer fronts in Resene Wham, Resene Splish Splash, Resene Havoc and Resene Fizz.

Resene wallpaper was used as a feature wall in the entranceway. And the kitchen was done up on the cheap by painting the green cabinetry in Resene Black White also.
