Resene Paints Moving to their new beach house has been an exciting journey for the Beconcini family. They finally got to live in their dream location, but were faced with the real challenge of it not being their dream home. The house is a 100-year-old beach bach - small, dark and sandwiched in between neighbouring houses.

Their creative vision for the living room and kitchen was to open it up as much as possible and to create light reflecting surfaces to produce an optical illusion of a bigger, lighter and airy space. The white walls, floors and ceiling created a seamless flow and an optical illusion of more open space. Resene Black White walls set the perfect blank canvas for their art, and eclectic vibe with pops of colour.

With their design aesthetic they have tried to respect the history of the house and bring it into the future by combining the old and new, the retro and modern that works together in a symbiotic and aesthetically pleasing way.

Their brief and mood board had three key ideas 'Beachy, Retro, Scandinavian'. They wanted to promote a focus towards the ocean and maximse the views. They also introduced beach influenced colours and accessories.
