The office area needed to have a welcoming, homely feel as it is a building company office. Fresh, clean lined and modern but not stark was the request. The project team were asked to use the signage colours in such a way as to generate a feel of ‘walking into a home’ and an environment peaceful to work in. Using Resene Half Rice Cake gave a warm but modern feel. Resene Limerick added the ‘wow factor’ while being the signage colour. The use of Resene Half Gravel was a grounding contrast and gave a modern feel. Wallpaper used as a feature added to the sense of home.
The use of Resene Limerick gave a splash of colour. To avoid it being overpowering, the colour is carefully scattered in the random tile selection down the main wall.
The inspiration for the colour scheme was to include and complement the existing green chairs seen in the reception area. These came from the old office and needed to be used. The idea was to work with these, not try and match them. The pictures and furniture has been chosen to provide a home feel but be suitable for a board room (office use) and practical for clients to sit in while waiting or discussing their new build.
The use of colour has inspired and encouraged clients. It has shown them you can add a splash of colour without overpowering an area; that it can add individuality to a room and make it a statement. Many have sat in there and felt like they ‘can’ move away from their home being just neutral colours. Many have branched out and used wallpaper too.
