East Lindfield residence

This 20th century modernist style residence is home to five. It is surrounded by natural bush land and lush gardens. The brief was very open, so long as the base palette was relatively neutral to enable the addition of layers of colour and contrast in all of the finishes, textures and soft furnishings.

The exterior of the house had been painted two years prior in Resene Stonehenge, with fascia trim, front door, letterbox and an external feature wall on the entertaining deck, in Resene Double Tuna. The home required an up to date, modern renovation and a palette to reflect the owners’ taste and lifestyle. Earthy colours were selected to be continued inside, with the inky hues of the Resene Tuna that was used externally, creating a soft, murky accent inside too.

The living area of this home has very high, raked ceilings and abundant natural light. The floorboards have a warm, honeyed undertone, and the kitchen veneer was also specified to blend these warm, brown tones. Resene Bison Hide was chosen as the main wall colour to add depth and strength to the space, with its slightly green, earthy undertone working as a complementary colour to the warm tones in the flooring and kitchen cabinetry. A crisp white trim adds contrast and freshness and the tonal depth of Resene Bison Hide allows artwork to pop. The inky tones of Resene Tuna and Resene Double Tuna are repeated in pendant lights, soft furnishings, artworks and a strip wall for a funky whiteboard.

The natural, earthy palette, with the layers of textured linens, timbers and inky blues creates a very harmonious yet family friendly space.

A clear Resene Write-on Wall Paint was applied over Resene Tuna to create a whiteboard for family use yet avoid the mess of a chalkboard.

The bathroom was also renovated and the stunning Omvivo basin was colour matched to Resene Half Escape. The cavity slider door was also painted in this colour in Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel.
