It’s easy to build this children’s bench seat using timber and two complementary Resene colours.
Ways with wood with Mark Rayner - Project 67
Difficulty level: Moderate
To get the look: Mark painted the background walls with Resene SpaceCote Flat tinted to Resene Alabaster and Resene Sail.
Other ideas: For a yellow and purple combination paint the bench with Resene Fizz and Resene Gobstopper.
Step one
Measure, mark and cut the piece of timber to the dimensions listed above. Smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.
Step two

Step five
Sand the filled screw heads with sandpaper and wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step six
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the bench and allow to dry.
Step seven
Apply two coats of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Wham to the bench legs, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
