Transform an old garden bench into a stylish piece of outdoor furniture with a little bit of help from Resene.

To get the look: Mark stained the deck with Resene Kwila Timber Stain.

Other ideas: For a paler finish stain the wood with Resene Woodsman tinted to Resene Uluru and paint the metal parts with Resene Super Gloss tinted to Resene Barely There.
Step one
Remove any unsound paint and rust spots using the wire brush.
Step two
Mix one part Resene Moss & Mould Killer to five parts clean water.
Step three
Apply the solution generously to the wooden parts of the bench and leave for 48 hours.
Step four
Mix one part Resene Timber and Deck Wash to three parts water and scrub the solution across the wood using a stiff bristled brush. Rinse off with clean water and
Step five
Spot prime any areas of bare metal with Resene ArmourX Rust-Arrest and allow to dry for 24 hours.
Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Woodsman with a paint stirrer.
Step seven
Apply two coats of Resene Woodsman to the wooden parts of the bench, allowing 24 hours for each coat to dry.
Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Holly to the metal parts of the bench, allowing 16 hours for each coat to dry.
