Turn a plain ceramic vase into a crackle masterpiece with a little bit of help from Resene.
Resene art with Mark Rayner – Project 117
Difficulty level: Moderate
To get the look: Mark painted the background wall with Resene SpaceCote Flat tinted to Resene Away We Go.
Other ideas: For a monochrome effect sponge the vase with Resene Alabaster and Resene Silver Chalice over a base coat of Resene All Black.
Step one
Sand the outside of the vase to ‘key’ the surface.
Step two
Wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step three
Carefully stir the Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer.
Step four
Apply one coat of Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer to the outside of the vase and allow to dry.
Step five
Apply two coats of Resene Kitsch to the outside of the vase, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step six
Apply one coat of Resene FX Crackle Effect to the outside of the vase and allow to dry.
Step seven
Wearing rubber gloves, carefully sponge on one coat of Resene Quill Grey to the outside of the vase.
Step eight
While still wet, carefully sponge on some Resene Vista Blue, allowing it to mix with the previous colour. Allow to dry.
