Colour: Resene Azure

Resene Azure

“My colour Azure is sometimes described as the colour of a clear sky. My inspiration grey initially from the idea of the ocean during lockdown and the forbidden stillness of the surface. My silk colour only reinforced this rippling water imagery.

The azure pigment is considered unstable and as a result it is often isolated from other colours. Like a stone breaking the still surface of the water; people have started emerging from their isolation at home, in more than just pajamas.

My garments are for the modern woman, enveloped in comfort. She has learnt to slow down and rest, letting creativity imbue her every day. Slowly learning to balance and calm and chaotic with the things that are out of her control. Well supported and dripping in gentleness.

The back wrapping around into the sleeves resembles a blanket. I’m using the quilting to subtly illustrate ripples and to serve as a reminder of the comforts of her bed. She clothes herself in confidence, a tailored, glamourous version of the lingerie and dressing gown that have become habitual.”
