Decorating articles and inspiration from TrendsIdeas
To successfully update the colours of a character building accommodating today’s tastes while respecting yesterday’s is all important.
Bluestone, soft red brickwork and a well-preserved kauri timber floor provided inspiration for architectural designer Gary Todd. He chose Resene Sea Fog to allow the colours used in Enabling’s corporate branding – orange and grey – to pop.
To tie together old and new, the structural forms of exposed hardwood posts, beams, roof trusses and the plastered walls were painted in Environmental Choice-approved Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen waterborne enamel tinted to Resene Sea Fog.
The hint of grey in the acrylic enamel is picked up in the two-toned, grey-flecked carpet and the bluestone. “The limited palette of colours enhances the minimalist office by creating a feel of loftiness and space,” the architectural designer says. Resene Aquaclear waterborne urethane was used on the floor to preserve the kauri. Resene Sea Fog is from the Resene The Range Whites & Neutrals collection, featuring the most popular Resene whites and neutrals hues in strength variations from triple to eighth strength, making it easy to select the right neutral shade and develop tone-on-tone colour schemes.
