FX Faux Stone Light - Step 1 Step 1
Start by giving the light shade a good sand with a piece of 80 grit sandpaper. Wipe away the dust with a cloth and then prime the shade with Resene Smooth Surface Sealer.

FX Faux Stone Light - Step 2 Step 2
Once the primer is dry, paint over this with Resene Sandtex Mediterranean Effect. I dabbed it on in a haphazard, messy way so that it made lots of texture.

FX Faux Stone Light - Step 3 Step 3
When the Sandtex is dry, paint over this completely with Resene Sazerac. Don’t worry about trying to paint it on nicely – the more texture the better. I found swirling it on with my paint brush got the Resene Sazerac into all the crevices made by the Sandtex.

FX Faux Stone Light - Step 4 Step 4
While the Resene Sazerac was still wet, I dabbed on the Resene Flesh and aimed for about 80% coverage.

FX Faux Stone Light - Step 5a Step 5 (a)
Next I dabbed on Resene Dark bluff, covering about 50%, followed by dabs of Resene Brown Bramble. The idea was to build up layers and a depth of colour.

FX Faux Stone Light - Step 5b Step 5 (b)
If you are unhappy with an area, you can always dab on some of the lighter colours and build up again to the darker colours.
