Habitat bright ideas with Fleur Thorpe – DIY projects
Make magnetic seashell ANZAC poppies to decorate your home. Fleur Thorpe shows you how.
Doors – Resene Ironsand
Trim – Resene Quarter Thorndon Cream
Step 1: Collect some round petal-shaped shells from the beach. Depending on the size, you need four shells to make one poppy, though three larger shells can also work. (Photo 1).
Step 2: Paint the shells with Resene Poppy. I found three coats were needed. (Photo 2).

Step 3: With a hot glue gun, glue the back of the shells to the edge of a strong round magnet. (Photo 3).
Step 4: You can leave the poppies like this if you want, or you can paint some scrap cardboard with Resene Black (Photo 4), cut out circles, and hot glue them on to the top of the shells to make the centre of the poppies. (Photo 5).
