How to make your own mobile

• 117 wood rounds, 40mm diameter
• Craft paint brush
• White cotton thread or nylon
• Embroidery hoop or similar (mine was 17.5cm diameter).
• Resene testpots in your choice of colour, Fleur used Resene Palm Leaf, Resene Parsley, Resene Charlotte, Resene White, Resene Corvette, Resene Roxy, Resene Rose of Sharon, Resene Reverie and Resene Zephyr

Instructions

Step 1:  Start by painting the wood rounds using Resene testpots in your choice of colours. Fleur used 9 different colours and painted 13 wood rounds in each colour so that there would be 13 strings for the finished mobile (Photo 2).

Step 2: Use white cotton thread or nylon to string the wood rounds together. Tie a knot at each one so that they don’t slip down (Photo 3).

Step 3:  Tie each of the lengths to your hoop. Fleur used an old embroidery hoop, but you could use a metal or plastic hoop. (Finished project).

Top tip: Finish some of the wood rounds in Resene White and Resene FX Nightlight for a soft glow-in-the-dark feature that will softly glow as the light goes out then slowly fade as the night continues.
