Project ideas and inspiration from Good magazine

Bathroom before painting

Bathroom with blue feature wall

Forget hospital whites for the bathroom – add a splash of drama with a feature wall in a bright shade or rich tone. Be brave in your colour choice – the area you are painting is likely to be small, so when you’re ready for a change, it can be easily repainted.

You will need

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1  Before you start painting, the wall surface must be clear of mould and soap build-up as well as being completely dry. Start by thoroughly cleaning and drying your intended feature wall.

Step 2  Use a screwdriver to gently lever any tap fitting surrounds away from the wall.

Step 3  Use your cutting-in brush to carefully paint the outside edge of the feature wall. take it slowly and don't overload your brush with paint. Start painting about 5cm inside of where you want the final painted edge to be, before gently moving the brush towards it.
