Location:
Belmont Intermediate School, 10 Winscombe Street, Belmont, Auckland.
Team:
Frames built by Mark Ferguson (Tech teacher), Larissa Johnson (art teacher), Paige Pedersen, Sophie Bloom, Antonia Tyson, Laura Rooney, Amelia-Fleur Murch and Emily Duncan.
Accessible to public:
Yes, on wall near staffroom.
Mural theme:
‘We were here’. Our school turns 60 years old this year. This mural acknowledges all the students that have been here over that time. Every window shows a boy and girl wearing uniform from a different decade.
Background to mural creation:
Old archive photos were used to create portraits of the students from the different eras. This is a way of those photos being more visible to everyone through a mural.
The windows are the same as the original window design of the ones when the school was built. The windows on the wall are as if students are looking in from outside. The background colours are the house team colours – blue (Brett), red (Pencarrow), yellow (Tiri) and green (Cuvier).
