Location:
90 Churton Drive, Churton Park, Wellington.
Team:
Raquel, Casey, Thomas, Rebecca, Phillipa, Jason, painted by year 4-6 students.
Accessible to public:
Yes.
Mural theme:
‘Connected’ – an idea from the students recognising we are all connected to the environment and it is to us, as well as the connections to each other and the community.
Background to mural creation:
The mural was created to brighten up the front entrance to the school and make passersbys realise a school lay up the driveway. It was also an opportunity for students who are talented in art to be challenged/inspired as the mural art design team.
As there are nine letters in the word connected, they decided to use one panel for each letter and then attach each panel to one of the sections in the front fence. They then grouped all the ideas into nine themes and brainstormed ideas for the images that would fit each theme.
