Background to mural creation:
This mural was created as a project in response to the BOP School Sustainability and Resilience Fund for the Tamariki and whanau of Awakeri Playcentre, as well as the wider community. The mural highlights native taonga and spreads the message about our responsibilities to the whenua through the whakatauki manaaki whenua, manaaki tangata, haere whakamua.
