Background to mural creation:
As part of Auckland Pride Festival 2023, Corban Estate Arts Centre designed an opportunity for our takatāpui /rainbow communities and their allies to come together for a day of creative mural making. Visitors were invited to engage in a collaborative painting experience, making visible the Progressive Pride Flag – an insignia affirming social independence and proclaiming power for the global LGBTQ+ community. Everyone was welcome and the group that gathered on the day picked up a paintbrush or just come along to observe in support.
