Mural theme:
The bird, eel and frog represent the animal forms native to NZ, as does the kowhai. The theme arose from a whole school science/environment respect for and care of the natural habitat.

Background to mural creation:
A student Hatal Patel (school top student 2011) was so involved in the learning focus of the school that she thought how valuable it would be for future students if they had gigantic representations of the Tui, tuna and native frog and the kowhai to remind them of the important status of our environment.
