A smart blue bedroom is the second winner in the monthly Resene Colour Home of the Year competition. Julia and Wayne Keightley from Feilding have won $500 in Resene paint vouchers for using their clever eye for colour.
Julia and Wayne Keightley's shared tastes in the smart use of colour helped them put together this simple scheme for the bedroom of their Feilding home that they have been renovating over the past three years. They let their eyes do the walking by scanning the Resene palettes for just the right inky blue feature wall colour to go with the neutral main walls in Resene Sisal. They chose Resene Black Rock.
The contrast of the blue drapes and Wayne's own MDF bedside cabinets, also in Resene Sisal (and rubbed down for a distressed finish), adds a sophisticated touch in this bedroom with its orange accents. Julia and Wayne built a bay window seat and created a huge new wardrobe by closing off the hallway access to their own linen cupboard and opening it into their bedroom. Now, they plan to paint their home outside, courtesy of their $500 prize money.
