Colour story: retro gold
The aptly named Resene Tweet on the cabinetry of this Christchurch home caused “much twittering at the factory when it was applied”, says homeowner Michelle Burns. Her bold colour scheme was chosen to complement the mid-century feel of the 1968 home. “We achieved this by incorporating rimu into the island cabinetry and bringing the gorgeous Resene ‘Grasscloth’ wallpaper into the scheme.” The cabinets were painted in high gloss Resene Wan White and the ceiling and walls in Resene Alabaster. To finish the look, Michelle’s choice of the ‘Retro Gold’ tiles from Spazio Casa for the splashback were a “no brainer”.

Glossy finishes can reflect off each other. Combining them with a Grasscloth wallpaper helps to diffuse the light and bring in a natural element.
