“To get off the grid is a personal term to me and many people. It means to get away. From your current situation, away from society, your own thoughts, your routine, turn off snapchat maps and go to a happy place where you can find your inner peace. I wanted me garment to represent nature’s flow and its importance in mental health.

I find it so beautiful to be able to live in a refreshing place such as New Zealand, where a getaway is around the corner.

I want to appreciate the importance of inner peace caused by nature in my garment. From my mood board, I have decided that for my design, I want something that is flowy and graceful. I wanted something you could walk around meadows in and feel like a garden fairy, something that would allow you to connect with nature and something that would make anyone feel good and confident wearing it. I made tiny pleats on the bust and waist of the garment to symbolize tight clinging thoughts. Underneath the pleats are gathered, to symbolise letting go.”
