“It reminds me of my childhood.  I grew up admiring different designs and wished to become a designer.  In high school I leaned a little bit about sewing.  I started doing domestic sewing that was based on African designs, where I am from.

While I was doing the research about my Untamed colour, I found a tropical leaf design that naturally has a type of accordion pleat or pine tuck, and that doubled my inspiration about 1900s design.

Because it’s green in Waitakere, especially in Ranui, I see lots of tropical leaves that inspired me more.  From that I decided to design a dress that looks like these leaves and that reflects my childhood inspiration.”
