“Resene Skylight is a rich summer blue hue, floating between warm red violet undertones and clear azure indigo. I drew inspiration from my colour and its name, skylight.

Gazing at the sky, particularly during moments of stillness and clarity, can have a therapeutic effect, providing a space for reflection, meditation and a break from the chaos of everyday life. It reminds up to pause, appreciate the present moment and find beauty in the simplest of things. The sky offers exposure to natural light, particularly sunlight, which triggers the production of serotonin in the brain. The sky acts as a constant reminder of the infinite possibilities that lie beyond our earthly boundaries.

In my design, the frills on the bodice represent wings from a bird. Wings symbolize their ability to navigate and protect, offering comfort, support and guidance in times of need. The tiers of the skirt reminds me of the textures of the clouds as well as the panels, and the sun’s reflection you find from a skylight.

This garment is my interpretation of the sky and all that it has to offer us as humans.”
