“My design is very much inspired by spices, specifically cinnamon, as the colour I was given looks very similar to the colour of cinnamon. Cinnamon, like kombucha, has its own health benefits and it contains anti-inflammatory properties, supports healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Kombucha is a tea that basically has the same benefits as cinnamon to our health – it helps digestion, rids your body of toxins and boosts your energy.

So therefore, I styled my sleeves and pants to mimic the shape of cinnamon. I also incorporated the process of kombucha in my design as part of the process of kombucha is fermentation, and basically what this means is growth, so my corset top symbolises the cinnamon tree. For cinnamon to be made the tree needs to be grown for approximately 2 years before coppicing it (i.e. cutting the stems at ground level).”
