“I took a lot of inspiration from the actual animated movie while also leaning about the African Congo jungle as that is where Tarzan is set. I find the jungle there absolutely breathtaking, so incorporating some of the elements of the landscape there was important to me.

The theme running throughout my garment is natural and flowy while also taking on some of the shapes of nature and things I was drawn to.

I wanted my look to embody an earth goddess vibe, as something that stood out to me throughout the film was the importance of the connection to his family and also the land and how, in the end, he even went back to the jungle as he realised how much more important that was than moving back to the city, I believe showing how much he values Mother Nature.

For my dress design I also wanted to tie in elements of the vines in the jungle, but also taking inspiration from Jane and the simplicity of some of the silhouettes she wore throughout the film. I wanted my design to be soft yet strong, what I believe Mother Nature to be.”
