"Bright Lights – New Beginnings

Maya is leaving the bright lights of Turbo city. She leaves her apartment, a place that has bound her to only what she is comfortable with and knows. Maya knows that she is destined for more out of life. She wanders into the mystical forest. She doesn't know what she is doing. But she has an epiphany, she is definitely meant to be where she is now.

As Maya moves deeper into the forest, she loses sight of the bright lights of Turbo. Overwhelmed with emotion, Maya sees buttermilk coloured trees – she soon starts to feel free. As she travels deeper into the forest she comes across beautiful neatly ploughed green meadows. She frolics and feels certain this is where she is supposed to be and content with herself. Maya is soon smothered by excited pink butterflies and lavished in gold flower petals. Maya soon realises that fate has brought her to this magical place that she now calls home. She no longer sees the bright lights of Turbo City. But her new beginning now awaits.

The silhouette of this garment is very structured with asymmetrical lines on the front panels and sleeves so when Maya moves, the garment moves freely with her. The second garment is a basic dress with a high neck. This relates to the playfulness of the pink butterflies that smother her band symbolise her newfound home, strength and revolution. The garments work well together because the awakening colour scheme of the greens, yellows and pinks all complement each other and also the playfulness of both a short and a long garment."
