Colour: Resene Clockwork Orange

"Kissed by Fire.

My Resene colour is Clockwork Orange; this colour is vibrant, bold and fierce.

My inspiration for this design is fire, particularly Maya's fiery passion. In Maya's story it talks of a place where fiery colours renew and vibrate with ecstasy. I was inspired by this sense of fire and renewal. I wanted to design something that was bold, sexy and powerful, something that could represent Maya's fiery passion for her new world of colour and beauty and also reflect the boldness and vibrancy my colour would bring to interior design in the home.

In my design I tried to create the effect of fire kissing the body. I have soft ruffles imitating flames draping down the body into a fitted skit that flares out at the hem like a flame rising from the ground. I have created a hood to represent the constraints of Maya's old world and made it detachable to show her breaking those constraints with her fiery passion for a better world filled with colour, enchantment and joy. This design is a bold, daring and elegant dress which I believe truly reflects the colour 'Clockwork Orange'.

I imagine Maya walking out in her new world in this dress with its romantic but powerful silhouette with its flame like neckline looking like she has been kissed by fire and confirmed by it, like all the passer-bys surely will be consumed by her."
