Resene Bright LightsMariah Shaw

Colour: Resene Bright Lights

"While creating my dress I pictured Maya walking through the mythical forest leaving the Bright Lights of the city and seeing a moon rising over the ocean for the first time. This led me to create my dress that is free flowing and airy. My design was based on a moon rising over an ocean. The top green section represents the moon, while the flowy bodice and skirts are the waves in the ocean.

My design consists of a panelled halter neck bodice that ties at the neck. The top green part of the bodice represents the moon rising from the ocean and the panelled section the rays coming off the moon over the ocean. The frilled ruffles have been baby locked along the lower edges to create 'flowyness' emulating the waves of the ocean. The frills meet at the waist in the centre back which makes the eye move toward the bottom half of the dress. The skirt section of the dress is a double layered skirt with pleats at the front and back. The top skirt drops at the centre back to show the changing nature of the ocean."
