Colour: Resene Red Letter

"My outfit was inspired by Maya's story and my Resene colour – Red Letter. Red Letter is robust traditional deep carmine hinting of better days and full of good things to come. My Resene colour inspired me to create an ensemble reflecting on Maya's struggle to survive in a confined world, where the two connect is within the structure and design of the outfit.

The hoop skirt depicts the Turbo City that Maya lives in as being robust and stubborn, where Maya is somewhat trapped in a cage that she feels almost impossible to escape. The corset reflects upon Maya as a person with the front designed to look plain to synchronise with Maya who blends into the Turbo City and looks ordinary. The back symbolises Maya hinting for better days. Being laced it shows how much she is in control."
