Fit for a princess... or two

When the Keenan family brought their first house, it was a real DIY 1900s bungalow. Little did they know that it would take six months to complete all the work.

They started with the Princess room first, it was quite a state! The previous occupants had used the room for repairing cars resulting in an oil stained carpet, accompanied with peeling wallpaper, not exactly ideal for their eldest daughter and their impending newborn.

They set to the project, and got very excited choosing colours and saving the money needed. When they asked Hannah their eldest daughter what colours she would like, funnily enough she really wanted a brown colour.

Being first homebuyers, and home renovators they really wanted the colours to be homely and special but not outrageous. They wanted the colour to flow, going from a dark colour at the bottom to a light colour at the top. They decided on the earthy dark colour of Resene Oilskin for the bottom colour, Resene Sandcastle for the top colour, and Resene Half Spanish White for the ceiling and trim. The beauty of having earthy colours is that the room can be dressed up with pink accessories including fitting the old light with a mini chandelier and the accessories can be changed as the girls grow older. The room is now fit for their little princesses.
