Regional and special colour palettes - colours sympathetic to their environment
Many District Plans recognise the character of their natural environments as a matter of national importance and have controls to maintain that character. The exterior colour of new buildings (and alterations to existing buildings) is an important consideration in many areas, and colours that are sympathetic with, and complementary to, the environment are deemed appropriate for these areas. Many towns have established Design Principles to ensure that the colours of new developments fit within the established streetscape.
Also included in this section are a range of other special colour palettes.
