Brick matcher

When the Bankers family bought their 1962 brick and weatherboard house they knew it needed a major facelift. Every surface needed repainting, inside and out. Their biggest challenge, however, was finding the right colours to paint the house as it featured an unusual brick on external walls, plus it featured the same brick on two internal walls and on the lounge mantelpiece.

Friends and family were initially horrified to hear that we were keeping the bricks as a feature - they all assumed we would plaster, or at least paint, over them - but we knew that they would look great if set against the right colour palette.

They chose Resene Grey Friars for the roof, facing boards/guttering, and doors as this colour toned in well with the darker aspects of the bricks. Next they chose Resene Merino for the windows plus all interior woodwork and ceilings as this was a softer, more natural white. The weatherboards, however, had them stumped! Nine testpots later they took a photo of the bricks into their local Resene ColorShop and they helped find Resene Rockbottom. And the last part of the exterior colour scheme was Resene Stonehenge for the foundations.

Inside they have used Resene Quarter Pravda, Resene Half Truffle, Resene Grey Friars and Resene Merino.
