Their 1950s house was still the original concrete stucco up until the renovation project. They have painted the exterior in Resene Cougar with windows in Resene Villa White and the roof (which was ugly rust coloured shingle tiles) in Resene Ironsand. This has made a tremendous difference and they have had many comments about how great the house looks. Over the years many smaller projects have also used Resene paints, such as bookshelves, noticeboards, name letters, a table and chair set and a wooden couch for the children to enjoy.
The lounge was painted in Resene Sandcastle and updated accessories and curtains were added to complete the new look. The colour has lasted the test of time as they have recently updated their kitchen and painted the walls in Resene Quarter Sandcastle to provide some continuity throughout the living areas. The dining room, hallway and study have all been painted Resene Half Spanish White, selected for its warmth, which accentuates the rimu flooring and doors in these areas
The master bedroom is a very bright sunny room so they have cooled it with Resene Midnight Express and kept the bedding and curtains a neutral cream.
In the bathroom they transformed (on a small budget) the whole look of the room by painting over the swirling brown Seratone wall lining with Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer, then topcoating it in a very neutral Resene Half Spanish White. The result is fabulous with very little monetary outlay.
Thanks to the Mason family of Hawke's Bay.
