Scheming and dreamingMoving into a Lake Okareka house eight weeks before their second child was born and resisting the temptation to know the gender of the baby, the Wilsons started painting the baby's room a gender neutral Resene Golden Sand, which they knew would work well in a sunny room with other strong colours. Teamed with roman blinds of apple-green gingham, the small blind was Roz's first attempt at blind making following instructions off the internet! The duvet cover is a combination of Hi-Hi Tea Cupcake material from Treehouse and a pink/green gingham valance from Pumpkin Patch. Every seam of the valance was unpicked and resewn to make the duvet cover. During 3 months of 4am baby feeds, Roz sat, planned, schemed and dreamed looking at many testpot colours painted onto the back of Lucy's rejected kindergarten paintings. Emma's cot now has many colours with varnish - Resene Chetwode Blue, Resene Classic Rose, Resene Paint Effects mixed with Resene Amour and Resene Conifer. After 6 months, the bed has finally been painted Resene Conifer and the drawers Resene Orient. The wall letters are Resene Roadster, an idea taken from the March 2004 issue of Your Home & Garden. This idea has been carried through to Lucy's room by free painting leftover Resene Classic Rose onto the wall with Resene Blue Marguerite wall letters creating a natural flow between the two rooms.
Outside the house gleams in Resene Karaka and Resene Hot Chile, fitting colours for the natural environment.
Time now for more scheming and dreaming but perhaps not at 5am! Inspiration gallery 2004
Thanks to Roz.
