Background to mural creation:
The Avalon Intermediate 'in the neighbourhood' mural was designed by students and painted over a period of three months It represents part of the neighbourhood, such as the Taita rock, a favourite swimming hole in the community and designs from another mural on the arts block to provide continuity between the buildings. The school is delighted to report that despite the school being regularly hit by graffiti, the mural has never been vandalised.
