Background to mural creation:
St Leonards Road School have a very large Pasifika community. They wanted a mural that reflects Pasifika but also shows their cultural diversity. Each student painted a turtle representing their cultural heritage. This represented the school’s value of whanau whanui and migration across the moana. "Where we have come from, where we are going and where we have settled".
