Mark Rayner transforms a tired porch floor into a bright and welcoming space.
You will need: A broom, pencil, bucket, circular saw, exterior filler, galvanised decking nails, garden sprayer, hammer, paintbrush, paint roller and tray, timber to replace any rotten planks, sander and saw, Resene Moss & Mould Killer, Resene Paint Prep and House Wash, Resene Quick Dry, Resene Walk-on flooring and paving paint tinted to Resene Coriander.
Mark and cut across the timber, removing the rotten section. Ensure the cut is halfway above a support joist.
Fill the join and any other gaps in the existing timber with exterior filler and allow to dry. Sand the filled areas smooth.
In a garden sprayer, mix one part Resene Moss & Mould Killer with five parts clean water. Soak the porch floor with the solution and leave for 48 hours.
Spot prime any filled areas or areas of bare wood with one coat of Resene Quick Dry and allow two hours to dry.
Apply one coat of Resene Walk-on flooring and paving paint to the rest of the porch floor. Allow to dry and then apply a second coat of Resene Walk-on flooring and paving paint. Allow to dry.
