Flashback

Anahera was in the buzzing city of London. It was dark and gloomy expressing how she felt at that moment of time. She decided to take a visit to the V&A museum. Strolling down the halls surrounded by beautiful pieces of art Anahera was still unable to get out of her slump.

Then she saw The Mondrian collection of Yves Saint Laurent. Amazing she felt the collection took her back to the 60s where straight shift dresses were coming out and peace and power was coming in. The collection was in a glass cage. As Anahera looked at the outfit she could see her reflection staring back at her. She could see her wearing these outfits. As she stood there she thought about what colours she would use to describe how she felt. Purple sprung to mind. Anahera always had a connection to purple. It reminded her of home back in New Zealand. Purples and Blues reminded Anahera of all the Pukeko running around by the creek near her childhood home. As she left the museum she felt happy and left with fond memories that she cherishes.

For my inspiration I looked at the 60s. From the era I brought in the hippie flowy pants and the straight shift top. Another inspiration was The Mondrian collection of Yves Saint Laurent. I loved the colour blocking dresses and wanted to somehow recreate it. I have made the seams lace. In this outfit I have created high waisted trousers with a mid thigh split in the centre front. The opening is an invisible zip. The top is shapeless with panels. There are no side seams as the panel goes around the body. All the seams are replaced with fine rouleau lace detailing.
