Colour: Resene Leap Year

Resene Leap Year

“The colour I was given for this challenge was Resene Leap Year.

I was instantly drawn towards the word rarity as the leap year is something that doesn’t happen that often. This led me to write a poem based on this journey through Paris.

Designer

Without plans, huddled from the rain, I walk Parisian streets.
Twinkling lights reflect the ground and turn into the sea
It carries me towards a bar, one I’ve never heard
I’ve walked this lane a thousand times, this feeling’s quite absurd
I crack the door and timidly creep across the marble tiles
My eyes are drawn towards a line of beauties in single file
How have I missed this soiree, the bright lights, colour and flare!
An exotic bird drops her shoulders and explains: ‘It’s every leap year’

After writing this, I was pulled into a very specific time and place, represented by my mood board. The 20s, 30s and 40s. During this era, I imagine Anahera having androgynous, Chanel inspired style. I envision her in this outfit, walking out of a male-only smoking room, delicately using her hands to gestate her words, followed by fascinated men.”
