Colour: Resene Optimist

"Staying optimistic is something that could be very hard to do, not letting the pessimistic view take over could be almost impossible. Even though this happens, you have to let the optimism within you take over to see all the magic it can bring. My Resene colour Resene Optimist is a bright and rich blue; this colour makes me feel happy and positive so I wanted to show this in my design.

I came up with the idea of opposites. When researching the name of my colour there was a lot of contrast and opposites.

My inspiration came from my favourite movie, The Wizard of Oz. In the movie Dorothy goes to a new place, feeling scared but excited, meeting new friends and foes like a good witch and a bad witch.

This garment shows a good and a bad side using colour blocking to define the contrast. The blue portrays the 'good' as the main character Dorothy is wearing a blue dress. The green portrays 'bad' as the wicked witch is green giving a negative feel in comparison to the blue. The blue is crossed over to the green as the blue is taking over. The blue Resene Optimist side is more playful and flowy. The green side is more structured and fitted."
