Bill Samuel Peniata

Colour: Resene Left Field (Fanua Tauagavale)

Resene Left Field

“Hello my name is Bill Samuel Peniata and my colour is Left Field. My inspiration was through my mood board; it is filled with greenery from the Pacific Islands.

When I first looked at my colour, I imagined a field in Samoa full of coconut trees. Imagining the leaves floating with the wind and how light it is. But also when it is handled or weaved, it becomes the total opposite. It becomes strong, bold and unbreakable.

This reminded me of Anahera during her journey through the different countries. Anahera fits in and goes with the wind, but her boldness and strength keep her standing firm in what she believes in, fashion.

I wanted to create something that brings the best of both worlds. Something soft and elegant but bold and strong. So I incorporated a criss-cross effect on the front and back to show strength, just like weaving. A flow at the back shows softness like a leaf the flows with the wind. So when she walks it flows behind her.

I believe this links to my colour Left Field because it is strong, bold and stands out.”
