The playful mix of the orange and pink contrasted by its name transported my imagination to a place of festivities like the day of the dead, family and the joy that comes with. It made me feel connected and gave me a sense of culture.

From this, the style of my two piece garment was inspired by and holds elements of our traditional tribal wear in the Philippines with a modern twist to it.

This concept shows through by the conservatism in both the garments. Although minimal in design, the exaggerated and straight lines of the silhouette add sleekness to the garment and make it bolder. This does to show that the Resene colour Daredevil itself doesn’t need intricacy to captivate the attention of the people in the room.

The midriff bodice has a high neck collar to give the subtle feel of poise and contributes to it looking high fashioned. Along with its contrast and thoughtfully placed flower creates a bold statement in its flared sleeves that just simply demands your attention against the main orange.

The high waisted culottes flow down in a gradual flare to the hem. The feature side seam splits reveal the bold pink contrast hidden inside, granting you the sense of elegance and freedom, while also looking striking. This contrast also applies to the ties inserted into the side seams that were inspired by the thought of what binds us with family history, be it through music, a certain scent or in this case, colour.

Resene Daredevil represents all the people, things and memories we are to be grateful for. It stands as a reminder to stay humble and be joyous of all the blessings we have today.”
