Learn how to personalise a print:
Step 1: Take a store-bought art print and unpack the frame to remove the print. Sarah purchased her poster sized llama from Kmart.
Step 2: Choose a selection of vibrant and fun testpot colours. Sarah chose Resene Witch Haze, Resene Dauntless, Resene Irresistible and Resene Home Run.
Step 3: Using small detail brushes, add shapes and designs in different colours around the images. You may like to add text, or draw detail onto the subjects, like adding patterns to clothing or sunglasses over eyes. Sarah chose to ‘frame’ around the main subject in the print with a variety of fun shapes and patterns with a 90s kind of vibe. Use all your paint colours equally and have fun with it. There’s no right or wrong with this kind of paint effect.
Step 4: Once the paint is dry, outline all shapes using Resene Black paint and a fine paint brush, or a fine black art pen. This adds definition and helps tidy up the paintwork and make it pop. Place your print back in the frame, hang and enjoy! Now you have a print that is custom painted by you, one of a kind, and totally on trend.
