How to build greenhouse shelves

Create some extra storage in your greenhouse or shed with these easy to make shelves.

Weekend DIY with Mark Rayner - Project 62

Difficulty level: Easy

You will need: 1.8m fence palings (x2), 50mm exterior wood screws, paint stirrer, paintbrush, pencil, Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Japanese Maple, sandpaper, saw, screwdriver, tape measure.

To get the look: Mark stained the background wall with Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Grey Green.

Other ideas: For a soft blue effect stain the shelves with Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Pickled Bluewood.

Instructions

Step one
Measure and mark two 500mm lengths from each of the fence palings

Step two
Cut the lengths to size and smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.

Step three
Attach one of the 500mm lengths to one of the 800mm lengths, as shown, fixing at the corner with 50mm screws.

Step four
In the same way, fix the second 800mm length and another of the 500mm lengths to form a rectangular frame, as shown.

Step five
Fit the first of the shelves, as shown, fixing through each side with 50mm screws.

Step six
In the same way, fix the second of the shelves, as shown.

Step seven
Carefully stir the Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Japanese Maple.

Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Japanese Maple to the shelves, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
