Weekend DIY with Mark Rayner - Project 51

Difficulty level: Easy

You will need: Herb plants (x3), Paintbrush, Potting mix, Resene Blackboard Paint (green), Resene Terracotta Sealer Resene testpots of Resene Bilbao, Resene Limerick and Resene Wellywood, Small terracotta pots (x3), White chalk.

To get the look: Mark painted the shelves and background wall with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Pale Leaf.

Other ideas: For a vibrant pink effect use a combination of Resene Blackboard Paint (pink) and Resene Ballerina, Resene Hopskotch and Resene Pretty In Pink.

How to paint herb pots

Step one
Carefully remove price stickers from the terracotta pots.

Step two
Apply one coat of Resene Terracotta Sealer to the inside and outside of each pot and allow to dry.

Step three
Paint the rim of one pot with one coat of Resene Wellywood and allow two hours to dry.

Step four
Paint the rim of the second pot with one coat of Resene Limerick and allow two hours to dry.

Step five
Paint the rim of the third pot with one coat of Resene Bilbao and allow two hours to dry.

Step six
Apply a second coat of each colour to the rims of the pots and allow two hours to dry.

Step seven
Apply two coats of Resene Blackboard Paint (green) to the sides of each pot, as shown, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.

Step eight
Fill each pot with potting mix and a herb plant and then write the name of the herb on the front of each pot with white chalk.
