It’s easy to freshen up a previously painted wooden raised bed with a little bit of help from Resene.

Weekend DIY with Mark Rayner - Project 36

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Bucket, Exterior filler, Hose with clean running water, Paintbrush, Paint stirrer, Resene Lumbersider tinted to, Resene Koru, Resene Paint Prep and Housewash, Resene Quick Dry, Stiff bristled brush

To get the look: Mark stained the deck with Resene Kwila Timber Stain.

Other ideas: For a soft cream effect use Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Rich Cream.

How to paint a raised garden bed

 
Step 1Step one
Mix one part Resene Paint Prep and Housewash to three parts clean water.
Step 2Step two
Scrub the solution across the old paintwork, cleaning it of any dirt and debris.
Step 3Step three
Rinse the raised bed thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry.
Step 4Step four
Fill any holes or gaps in the wood with exterior filler and allow to dry.
Step 5Step five
Spot prime any filled gaps and areas of bare wood with Resene Quick Dry. Allow two hours to dry.
Step 6Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Lumbersider.
Step 7Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Koru to the raised bed and allow two hours to dry.
Step 8Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Koru to the raised bed and allow two hours to dry.
